SUPPORT GROUPS

Exciting Updates for Support Groups Starting February 2024!

We are thrilled to announce enhancements to our support groups, aiming to foster a more inclusive environment by bringing together voices from across the Midwest territory. Our goal is to boost attendance and enrich the depth of discussions within our community.

Beginning February 1, we will be offering the following groups:

Support Group: Tailored for individuals with ALS and their loved ones.

* First Tuesday of each month at 4 pm. RSVP by visiting: als.org/Midwest-Support-Group-1

or

* Third Wednesday at 11 am. RSVP by visiting: als.org/Midwest-Support-Group-2

Caregiver Support Group: Specifically designed for individuals caring for someone with ALS.

* Second Tuesday of each month at 12 pm. RSVP by visiting: als.org/Midwest-Caregivers-Support-Group

In addition to these groups, we are excited to introduce two new virtual nationwide gatherings called Nationwide Connect. These sessions are intended for caregivers, regardless of their location, offering a platform to share experiences and connect with others:

Virtual Meeting for Women Caregivers: Held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 pm. RSVP by visiting: als.org/Women-Nationwide-Connect

* Virtual Meeting for Men Caregivers: Scheduled for the third Thursday at 1 pm. RSVP by visiting: als.org/Men-Nationwide-Connect

These groups are dedicated spaces to exchange personal experiences, share emotions, and build connections with others navigating similar situations. We encourage you to join one of these groups and be part of this supportive community. Reach out to your ALS Navigator for more information about support groups.

LOCAL EVENTS

A Night of Hope

Saturday, March 2, 2024

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium

Night of Hope is The ALS Association’s premier dining event. This event brings together guests for a delicious dinner, a live auction, and award presentations to cap off another year of progress. During the event we will honor Kansas City baseball legend, George Brett, and his lifetime commitment to the fight against ALS. George’s dedication to raising awareness for the disease has inspired many, and his contributions have undoubtedly made a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. The tradition continues of recognizing an outstanding supporter of The ALS Association with the George Brett Award for Commitment, as well as recognizing a person with ALS with the Tom Watson Award for Courage.

COMMUNITY PARTNER EVENTS

Every year, more than 30 community partner events are hosted locally in support of The ALS Association by families, groups and individuals.

Are you interested in a new way to support The ALS Association this year? Consider hosting your own Community Partner event. Community Partner fundraising events are organized and managed by a family, group, or individual that would like to raise money to support The ALS Association. Examples of these events include golf outings, bike rides, auctions, raffles, walks, or runs. Be creative and come up with an event we’ve never heard of before! Have fun and support The Association at the same time. Contact Megan Conklin at megan.conklin@als.org to get started.
